How to update Lightroom Classic before installing presets

Modern XMP presets need a recent version of Lightroom Classic.

    Open the Adobe Creative Cloud app.

  2. 2

    Find Lightroom Classic in the apps list.

  3. 3

    Click Update if an update is available.

  4. 4

    Wait for the update to finish, then reopen Lightroom Classic.

  5. 5

    Try the preset import again.

Helpful tip

Lightroom Classic has supported XMP presets since version 7.3 (April 2018). If you're on a version older than that, updating through Creative Cloud is the fix — the current release is always safe.
