How to unzip your files on Mac and Windows
Unzipping is only needed on desktop (and for LUTs). On Lightroom Mobile, import the ZIP directly — no unzip step.
Step-by-step
- 1
Mac: Double-click the ZIP in Finder. macOS unzips it automatically next to the original.
- 2
Windows: Right-click the ZIP and choose Extract All, then Extract.
- 3
Open the unzipped folder — inside you'll find the XMP preset files.
- 4
Import those XMP files into Lightroom Desktop or Lightroom Classic.
- 5
On Lightroom Mobile you don't need any of this — just import the ZIP straight into the app.
For presets on mobile you can skip this entirely — Lightroom Mobile imports the ZIP directly. For LUTs on mobile, you do need to unzip on the phone first, because mobile video editors read the loose .cube files, not the ZIP.
If Lightroom Desktop shows no presets after import, you tried to import the ZIP instead of the unzipped XMP files.
